Building Information
Because it is located between the Descendents’ Hall, Octagonal Pool, Perfect Benefit Spring, and the Longevity Pine, it is called Songshui Ting (Pine-River or Water Gazebo). Used by locals as an offering hall during festival times. Built with the timbers from the Wangchuanting 望川亭 (River-viewing Gazebo) after that structure was dismantled due to the frequent suicides which took place there after dark at the end of the Qianlong period (1736-1796). This structure is number 39 on our plan of the site.1
Date
1736-1796
